Smudge was my cat. I painted a whole series of him for a show I did in 2002 called “The Story of Smudge”, in which portions of proceeds were donated to the Feral Cat Coalition, which helps the feral cat situation thru education and free spay & neutering clinics. Smudge was born feral, which means wild. I had to capture him in a live animal trap as he wouldn’t let me within more than 8 feet of him. He was very tiny, very hungry, and very covered with fleas which were eating him alive. We had a very strong bond and I loved him very much.
