Nefertiti 22×14 Watercolor
I’m steadily working on a cat series that deals with the feline form, when it’s both static and in motion. This watercolor painting is of my own cat, Nefertiti. I can’t remember what inspired me to paint her like this, except that I knew it would be a different from my normal paintings. For those that are familiar with cat behavior, I have a question. When cats put their backs to you, it is because they are mad at you, or are they just feigning indifference? For me it’s hard to say. Here, something has her apt attention. Perhaps it was a bug on the wall. Nefertiti was used on the cover of an invite for the Escondido Humane Society’s annual black tie event a couple of years ago. I’m always honored when my artwork is used in such a manner.
