The Girls (Yin, Part One) 22×30 Watercolor
As a watercolor artist I love to describe relationships through painting. In this piece of a two part series, one of the cats is the same color as the background. She’s slightly concealed by the other cat, whose color really pops out, and is also featured in a painting of her own (click to see here). In Part 2 (yang), the color scheme is reversed. [...] Olivia lived with me for several years and was quite a little personality. This is one of my rare extra-large paintings measuring 29×41, it’s also one of my personal favorites. The amount of time it took to cover this size sheet of paper with watercolor paint to the level of saturation I prefer was… let’s say considerable.
