Snicker Smudge 22×12.5 Watercolor
Oh the joys of painting just for the sake of painting! I grabbed a scrap of paper and busted this one out over a couple weeks. I wish I could paint this fast all the time. I ended up launching a series of this cat, Smudge. He was my most favorite of cats that I’ve ever owned. His personality led me to present a fundraiser to raise awareness for the feral Cat Coalition. I called it the Story of Smudge. I simply love their work and their philosophy about feral cats. As far as Smudge, he had been a feral kitten. He was so small and wild that I had to trap him in a live animal trap. When I took him out, I discovered that he was very hungry and heavily covered in fleas. The vet confirmed that the fleas were nearly eating him alive. He may not have lasted much longer had I not been able to catch him. Snicker Smudge has always been one of my best selling images.
