Gomez 22 x 30 great dane puppy watercolor
Great Danes are one of my all time favorite breeds. In fact, one of my favorite pieces of collected art is a miniature 4 ” bronze sculpture of a Great Dane by sculpture Louise Peterson!! I met her once at a Great Dane Dog Show and fell in love with her work instantly. She truly captures and celebrates the very specific and lovely quarkiness of these dogs. The piece I have is titled “Tickled” and is a limited edition of 99. The Dane is scratching his ear with his hind foot, and it just makes me happy. This painting is of Gomez as a puppy, he is the apple of his mama’s eye, Mary, who owns Taste, Artison Cheese and Gourmet Shop in Hillcrest. He comes to visit me sometimes and is always very well-behaved, and slightly afraid of my cat Nefertiti, who makes sure he knows who is boss. As long as that is recognized, all is well.
You captured our little guy so well! Sure, he looks innocent enough here, but after I took the pic, I saw that he had been secretly chewing the carpet where it met our door jamb. We call it ‘carpet muncher’
